Skoda – the fasted production car in the world

… and with nothing bigger that a 2.0-litre engine.

Skoda are now claiming that they have the fastest production vehicle in the world in the G/PS category after a 2.0-litre 600hp Octavia vRS Bonneville Special took the world record up to 227.07 miles an hour (347km/h) on the salt flats at Bonneville in the United States.

The previous record of 216 miles per hour was set in 1998.

That’s not a bad achievement for a car maker that was once considered to be something of a laughing stock and an indication of just how serious Skoda is about producing vehicles that can compete with the products of any other car maker.
